But historically the popularity of tattoos started with musicians such as Janis Joplin in the 1960’s who was tattooed by the legendary Lyle Tuttle. The list has grown to include musical artists from every genre, including Eminem, Britney Spears, 50 Cent and Christina Aguilera. Several of these artists have more than one tattoo.
It’s amazing how the perception of body art has changed in the past 30 years. There was a time society frowned on individuals who sported a tattoo, considering them as rebels or outlaws. Many times the tattoos of the actor Johnny Depp are disguised by makeup but many times they are displayed and play a supporting role to the character of the film. This type of concession may be due to his rank as a leading actor in Hollywood, but many fear that the same may not be true for Eminem who is looking to add more tattoos as well as expand his acting career.

At last count, Johnny Depp had fourteen tattoo designs, including a Native American Head on his right bicep, which is a tribute to his ancestral heritage, the name "Betty Sue" inside a heart with tribal marking, which is dedicated to his mother, just above that tattoo is an inverted black triangle.
Johnny has a tattoo which reads "Wino Forever" on his upper right arm, it was originally a tribute to his former girlfriend Winona Ryder, and then read "Winona Forever".
He has the symbol from the movie "The Brave" on the inside of his right forearm, which is the first movie he directed.
The name of his daughter and first born child, "Lily-Rose" is tattooed on the left side of his chest.
